Today marks the release of Tyler, The Creator’s new album. Titled Don’t Tap the Glass, the album officially hit streaming platforms at 6AM EST on July 21, sending fans into a frenzy. The announcement came just a week ago, with minimal details shared — a move very on-brand for the enigmatic rapper and producer.
A Mysterious Yet Anticipated Drop
This marks Tyler’s ninth studio album, arriving while he’s still on the road for his Chromakopia tour. The project has been shrouded in secrecy, with little information revealed about the tracklist or featured collaborators.
However, Tyler did unveil the album’s striking cover art ahead of the release — a raw, topless photo of himself flaunting a more muscular frame, sparking both curiosity and admiration across social media.
The Doechii Connection
Ahead of the album’s release, Tyler debuted a new collaboration with rising star Doechii titled “Get Right” during Louis Vuitton’s fashion show in Paris. Produced by the legendary Pharrell Williams, the track’s high-energy, experimental sound drew comparisons to Kanye West’s Yeezus era.
Although it’s not confirmed whether “Get Right” is part of Don’t Tap the Glass, the chemistry between Tyler and Doechii has been evident both in and out of the studio.
A Genuine Admiration for Doechii
Tyler has publicly praised Doechii, recalling the moment he first heard her music:
“I came across Doechii on something YouTube recommended — it was either ‘Catfish’ or ‘Nissan Altima.’ I clicked it and I was like, ‘Damn, she’s pretty as hell.’ Then I kept listening, and I was just blown away.”
Their connection went beyond digital admiration. Tyler messaged her directly and hinted at a future collaboration. That moment eventually led to their joint performance during the Los Angeles stop of his Chromakopia tour.
On stage, Tyler didn’t hold back in celebrating her:
“I’m so happy she exists. We have to keep supporting everything she does. Keep supporting art. Keep supporting art.”
Mutual Respect Between Artists
The admiration goes both ways. In an interview last September, Doechii named Tyler as one of her all-time favorite artists. Their creative synergy is evident, and fans are hopeful this is just the beginning of more music from the duo.
With Today marking the release of Tyler, The Creator’s new album, fans now have a fresh set of tracks to explore — and plenty of excitement about where this new chapter might lead.
