When the clock struck midnight, there was no question who should be behind the decks. Catch Dom Dolla’s High-Energy New Year’s Eve Countdown became one of the most talked-about moments of Australia’s festival season, as the homegrown EDM sensation delivered an electrifying set to ring in the New Year.
The Australian superstar took charge of countdown duties at Beyond The Valley, which marked its 10th anniversary this year. Performing at the scenic Barunah Plains in Victoria, Dom Dolla (born Dominic Matheson) kept the energy surging straight through midnight, giving fans a New Year’s Eve to remember.
According to organizers Untitled Group, the milestone edition of Beyond The Valley sold out instantly, welcoming around 40,000 music lovers across four days of non-stop celebration from Dec. 28 to Jan. 1.
A Landmark Lineup and Unforgettable Moments
This year’s lineup blended global stars with genre-spanning favorites. Highlights included Addison Rae, who made her first-ever festival appearance, and Kid Cudi, returning to Australian stages for the first time in over a decade. Acts like Turnstile and The Temper Trap added to the festival’s diverse sonic mix.
Kid Cudi later shared his excitement on Instagram, calling the experience “the most epic” way to welcome the New Year and praising the love and energy from the crowd.
Why Dom Dolla Was the Perfect Choice
Handing over the countdown to Dom Dolla felt almost inevitable. The producer has now performed at eight editions of Beyond The Valley and continues to redefine what’s possible for Australian electronic artists. Just days earlier, he made history with a massive show at Allianz Stadium, becoming the first homegrown DJ to headline a stadium in the region.
His momentum didn’t stop there. In December 2024, Dom Dolla sold more than 170,000 tickets across a four-date national tour, all produced by Untitled Group—longtime collaborators of the Grammy-nominated, multi-ARIA Award-winning artist.
Reflecting on the festival’s milestone, Untitled Group co-founder Nicholas Greco shared that moments like Addison Rae’s debut, Kid Cudi’s long-awaited return, and Dom Dolla leading the New Year countdown perfectly captured the spirit of Beyond The Valley: discovery, connection, and shared experiences.
The Celebration Continues
The party didn’t end when the festival wrapped. Dom Dolla, Addison Rae, Kid Cudi, and several other performers carried the celebration forward with appearances at Wildlands festival in Brisbane on Jan. 1, before heading west for the final stop on Jan. 3 at Arena Joondalup.
As festivalgoers look back on an unforgettable start to the year, one thing is clear: Catch Dom Dolla’s High-Energy New Year’s Eve Countdown wasn’t just a performance—it was a defining moment for Australian dance music.
