T-Pain‘s name has become synonymous with Auto-Tune, the processing software he used to get his distinct sound — but he says he got grief for it until someone else made it cool: Snoop Dogg.
In a new sit-down on The Big Podcast With Shaq, Teddy Pain was asked by Shaquille O’Neal if there had been any resistance to his Auto-Tune-drenched vocals when he first came out.
“Oh, that’s all there was,” T-Pain replied. “It was only resistance, until somebody cool did it. Who was the person? By whom was it cool? Snoop. It was quite acceptable for Snoop to do it. Everyone said, “All right, I suppose we can listen to it.”
Although he doesn’t specify, T-Pain is probably talking about Snoop’s 2007 single “Sensual Seduction.” Notably, Snoop said that on that song, he was trying to “put a little T-Pain on it” with his Auto-Tune use.
In other T-Pain news, the singer was besieged with accusations of being broke earlier this week after he elected to travel commercial instead of on a private plane, and now he’s firing back at the rumors by giving fans a tour of his luxury yacht.
The singer is currently staying on a boat, bitch!, and made sure to capture it for everybody who previously had unpleasant things to say.
“I guess I’m broke. Anyways here’s the yacht I’m staying on,” he said as he showed off the vacation home.
In the caption, he mocked the comments he’s been receiving with, “yOu dIdNt fLY pRIvaTe???”
Days earlier, T-Pain shared a video to his Instagram in which, on board an airplane, he broke down the cost of a private jet. He titled the video: “You wanna know how much a private jet costs?”
He displayed an app on his phone that seemed to indicate that $126,574 would be needed to charter a private Gulfstream jet for a trip from Atlanta to Las Vegas and back.
