Earlier this summer, Hayley Williams surprised fans with an unconventional approach. Instead of releasing a standard album, she shared a full collection of songs piece by piece across her artist pages on streaming platforms. Before that, she gave exclusive early access to select Good Dye Young customers, who received secret codes with their hair dye purchases.
The Official Album Release
Now, the Paramore frontwoman has gathered all of those scattered tracks into a cohesive project. On Thursday (Aug. 28), Williams officially dropped her new album, Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. The release includes every song she had previously teased, including the title track and the single “Glum,” along with a fresh addition — a brand-new track called “Parachute.”
Fans Shaping the Tracklist
One of Williams’ main goals was to give fans freedom in how they experienced the music. By sharing songs individually, she encouraged listeners to create their own playlists and discover unique ways to connect with the tracks. When it came time to finalize the official tracklist, she actually drew inspiration from the playlists her fans had already built.
Announcing the release on Instagram, she wrote: “Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party. Yours on streaming services now. Pre-order physical copies available everywhere November 7th. Thanks for all your help on the tracklist.” Interestingly, she also left two blank spaces in the posted tracklist, sparking speculation that more songs could still be on the way.
A Return to Solo Work
Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party marks Williams’ first solo release in four years. Her last project, Flowers for Vases / Descansos, came out in 2021. Before that, she debuted her first solo LP, Petals for Armor, which reached No. 18 on the Billboard 200. With this new chapter, Williams continues to explore fresh sounds and bold creative choices outside of Paramore, keeping fans guessing about what she might do next.
The new project also arrives two years after Paramore’s last record, This Is Why.
