josh deep is a newly emerging artist from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area. At the age of 24, he has just recently started releasing music. After several years pursuing a career in college football, he started producing his own music earlier this year. He picked up his pen hastily and has not stopped writing since.

After seeing some success with his songs “Psycho” and “Who”, he now looks to pivot his goals towards longevity. Building up a dedicated fan base is the first item on his list, after making the music itself. He just released a single titled “True Freshman” and will be releasing his second EP within a matter of months. There are also signs that he will be collaborating with other independent artists, both large and small, within the near future.

Known by his legal name Joshua DePasquale, deep appeals to his fans by giving them a unique experience. His own version of alternative hip-hop includes a plethora of flow switches, precise wordplay, and beats you wouldn’t likely find anywhere else. And if you’re wondering how he gets these beats, he makes them on his own. While he would like to work with other producers as well, his first EP and three subsequent singles were done solo, from front to back.

josh deep stylizes his name with all lowercase letters, a nod to MF DOOM. As DOOM was famous for his line “just remember ALL CAPS when you spell the man name”, josh deep paid homage by using no capital letters. Aside from DOOM, deep has many other inspirations from the world of hip hop. These include Earl Sweatshirt, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, and many others.

josh deep also appeals to audiences by being open about his own struggles and downfalls in his music. While his songs include often lines flexing his status and abilities, he is also open about dealing with mental health, violence, and struggling for purpose. This gives the audience a deep level of relatability and music for any mood. Check out josh deep everywhere you can stream music.
