2Tone

Rapper 2Tone isn’t new to the music scene as he’s been delivering explosive visuals and lyric playing throughout his music career and the Minnesota music scene. 2Tone style is definitely unique and truly different from the rest of upcoming recording artists from his hometown. Lately, the spotlight has been on him as he’s been doing a mainstream rollout to gain worldwide detention, which we feel if he keeps this up, he’ll definitely land a spot among many talented stars to make it in the music industry.

We got to ask 2Tone. What inspired you to become a recording artist?

I have always loved music since a kid. It was always a way for me to cope through the ups and downs in my life, and I was raised around music. I used to dance when I was younger, but then, during my senior year of high school, my cousin and I played a song playing around it, and it went up a little bit on SoundCloud and YouTube, and they even played it at our prom and, after that, everyone kept telling me you’re actually raw you should take ts serious and that’s how I started taking it serious.

How was your childhood like growing up and does it have any impact on your music today?

Growing up, my childhood wasn’t the best, but it also wasn’t the worst. I was never really as close to my family as most people. I grew up more so around my friends and their families, and I was raised mainly by my dukes. As for my pops, he was around from time to time, you know, like holidays or whatnot, but besides that, I didn’t really see him, so me and him didn’t really start to actually get close until recently, when I got older before he passed. It has mainly always been me and my dukes. I used to get in & out of trouble for so long, got kicked out of the crib at a young age, lost many friends and families to the streets, drugs and sickness, so I was forced to mature at a young age. Ian has no handouts like most people. Everything I’ve earned is straight off the strength and muscle of my own hard work. So, yes, my music is impacted by growing up. I make all kinds of music for my fans and all, but it’s also me sporting what I got through in life as well.

What has been your biggest accomplishment as an artist?

My biggest accomplishment as an artist so far, I would have to say, is honestly just being more consistent and getting better at being an artist, whether it’s my wordplay, deliverance, sound.
