The country of Belgium, known for its waffles, chocolate, and stunning architecture, has produced a prodigious talent who is making waves in the music industry. Meet Killa Cross, also known as Stephen Rodrigues Da Costa, the CEO and Founder of Killa Squad Music. With his contagious sounds and unrelenting desire, this young maestro, who was born on April 18, is sweeping the hip-hop and rap industries.
Killa Cross’s early foray into music was sparked by his intuitive ear for rhythm and sound. Having come from a poor family, he had to pave his own way to success. Killa realized that his destiny was to become a renowned hip hop artist after drawing inspiration from his brother AKRO, a former member of the Belgian rap group Starflam, and his music producer grandfather.
Killa Cross chose a different path than most young people, who typically discover their vocation through formal education. He had a bright career in basketball after becoming initially fascinated by it. But fate had different things in store for him. As a member of the hip hop group Golden Boyz, Killa experimented with rapping in English, French, and Spanish before realizing at the tender age of 17 that his true calling was as a producer.
Killa learned how to produce music utilizing a variety of programs, including Reason, Fruity Loops, Cubase, Logic, and his current weapon of choice, Protools, all while being driven by an insatiable desire for musical knowledge. He works relentlessly, day and night, to create melodies that speak to his fans’ innermost feelings. Killa maintains a laser-like focus on his craft during his sessions, allowing him to tune out any outside noise and consistently produce the required musical masterpiece. His main objective? Securing the top position in world hip-hop production and proudly representing Belgium abroad.
Killa Cross recognizes the wealth of brilliant producers around him and has his sights set on the future. Legends like Bangladesh, well-known for his partnerships with Ciara, Missy Elliott, Lil Wayne, and Rihanna, and Drumma Boy, whose catalog features amazing collaborations with T.I., Wiz Khalifa, and Drake, to mention a few, are among them.
Killa Cross constantly keeps his family close for a genuine perspective on life and music, even though he adds a distinctive and autonomous approach to his musical ideas. This tireless musician, who is firmly rooted in the values of family and religion, creates music that touches people deeply and reaches the pinnacle of craftsmanship.
At the moment, Killa Cross is working with a wide range of domestic and foreign musicians from the worlds of American, French, and Belgian hip-hop. Killa’s vision and focus have already garnered a multitude of intriguing artist collaborations, from working with people like Scott Con, a.k.a. Scotty Boi from Maybach Music Group, to musicians like Gucci Mane, Cam’ron, Juicy J, Laioung, Rick Ross, Erie Ave, and Misty Blanco.
‘ACTIN’ UP’ by Meek Mill, Wale, and French Montana, included on Rick Ross’ well-received album Selfmade 2, was produced by Killa Cross under the auspices of Killa Squad Music, a music production company with its headquarters in Brussels. Killa’s most recent work, the electrifying track “Bleu,” with Scotty Boi, demonstrates his creative talent and paves the way for his upcoming musical pursuits.
