“I Look Like a Ninja Turtle,” Jelly Roll says, shedding tears at her Grammy nominations and making her beardless debut.

There are two significant life upgrades for Jelly Roll. First, the country music artist has received three fresh Grammy nominations. Secondly, his face has gone bald.

Jelly discussed how he “really feels” about the Recording Academy and shaved his beard for the first time in years in a talkative video that was uploaded to YouTube on Thursday, November 20. He went on a walk outside and had one-on-one conversations with viewers after shaving off his facial hair in the restroom with his wife Bunnie Xo at his side.

He self-deprecatingly remarked, “By now, you have probably figured out that I look like a Ninja Turtle.” Prior to his recent weight loss, he believed he “was so obese, it was easier to cover what was happening here [with a beard].”

“When I look at these nominations, all I see is God,” Jelly remarked as he addressed his 2026 nominations for best contemporary Christian music performance/song for “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” best contemporary country album for “Beautifully Broken,” and best country duo/group performance for the Shaboozey duet “Amen.”

The singer went on, “I want to cry.” Whoa, this year’s best country album. It has nothing to do with the album or the nomination. It has to do with the name.

The title of his 2024 Billboard 200-topping album, according to an emotional Jelly, reflects “what’s happening in the world right now, I think, more than ever.”

“Holy f—, dude, we won, win, lose, or draw,” he continued. “You guys make fun of me now and leave comments about my double chin. I know a lot of artists give the Grammys a lot of sh–, but the truth is I feel honored.”

With his first nominations in 2024 for best new artist and best country duo/group performance for his and Lainey Wilson’s “Save Me,” Jelly has now received seven Grammy nominations. He was nominated for both best country solo performance and best country song the following year for “I Am Not Okay.”
