In a moment of raw excitement and disbelief, BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ Says She’s ‘Absolutely Speechless’ and ‘Beyond Shocked’ Over Her VMA Nominations. The global K-pop sensation received the life-changing news on Tuesday (Aug. 5) when the nominations for the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards were revealed — and she’s been reeling ever since.
Taking to Instagram Stories just hours after the announcement, ROSÉ appeared visibly emotional as she shared her initial reaction.
“So I’ve just heard that I’ve received eight VMA nominations,” she said in the video, clearly stunned. “I am beyond shocked and I just don’t know what to say. I’m absolutely speechless! This is a crazy day! Whoa! It’s really, really wild! What’s happening?!”
To top it off, she posted a screenshot of her nomination list with a simple caption that said it all: “waaaahhh???!”
This marks a milestone in ROSÉ’s solo career — her very first MTV VMA nominations outside of BLACKPINK. She’s earned eight nods in total, including major categories such as Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects for her hit “APT.” with Bruno Mars, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, her single “Toxic Til the End” — the third track from her debut solo album Rosie — scored a nomination for Best K-pop.
Her impressive showing makes her one of the top-nominated artists this year, alongside industry heavyweights like Lady Gaga (12 nominations), Bruno Mars (11), Kendrick Lamar (10), and fellow pop stars Sabrina Carpenter (8), Ariana Grande, and The Weeknd (7 each).
ROSÉ isn’t the only BLACKPINK member making waves at the VMAs this year. Her bandmates are also shining in their solo endeavors. JENNIE’s “like JENNIE,” JISOO’s “earthquake,” and LISA’s collaboration with Doja Cat and RAYE, “Born Again,” are all in the running for Best K-pop — marking the first solo VMA nominations for JENNIE and JISOO.
The 2025 MTV VMAs will broadcast live on Sunday, September 7, at 8 p.m. ET from the UBS Arena in New York, airing on both CBS and MTV. Fans can also catch the show via streaming on Paramount+.
With this historic moment, BLACKPINK’s ROSÉ Says She’s ‘Absolutely Speechless’ and ‘Beyond Shocked’ Over Her VMA Nominations, and rightfully so — it’s a massive leap in her solo journey and a proud moment for BLINKs around the world.
