FIFA Boss Teases Drake’s World Cup Performance to Compete With Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Show

In an attempt to match Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl performance, Drake is being hinted at as the main artist for the inaugural World Cup final halftime show next year.

On Thursday, March 6, Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, spoke with Good Day New York about the next World Cup, which the United States, Mexico, and Canada will host.

Co-host Rosanna Scotto stated in the interview that it would be a “great idea” to have Drake perform at the scheduled halftime show. Drake is a regular in the NFL, but this is the first time he has done so for the famous soccer competition.

Infantino replied, jokingly: “So we can create a bit of a rivalry?” referring to Kendrick Lamar’s feud with the 6 Gods.

“That is a good idea,” he continued. Drake was actually present when we revealed the host cities. His number ought to be stored somewhere.

The World Cup has a larger worldwide viewership, with 1.4 billion people watching the final in 2022, compared to the record-breaking 133.5 million viewers in America for Kendrick Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl.

Drake has not yet responded to the rumors, despite the fact that the 2026 World Cup final—which will take place at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on July 19, 2026—is just over a year away.

The World Cup will have its first-ever halftime spectacle the following year, according to a recent announcement.

“I can confirm the first ever half-time show at a FIFA World Cup final in New York, New Jersey, in association with Global Citizen,” Infantino wrote in an Instagram post earlier this week.
