Despite spending the next few decades behind bars, R. Kelly has stated that he will continue to create music.

The musician and convicted sex trafficker stated that he continues to compose and perform while incarcerated in a federal prison in an interview with the podcast Inmate Tea with A&P, which was published on Sunday, March 2.

He clarified, “Singing is a beautiful disease that has no cure.”

According to Kelly, he continues to write songs quickly.

He declared, “I am always writing and singing.” “Since I have been here, I have written about 25 albums.”

Additionally, he asserted that his legal battle is far from over.

He went on, “I am trying to get out.” “I am employing patience as a strategy.”

Jean Bonjean, Kelly’s lawyer, agreed, telling TMZ: “We are still in the middle of the appeals process. We shall keep fighting for his freedom and justice.

Kelly is scheduled to be released from federal prison on December 21, 2045, according to documents from the Bureau of Prisons.

Kelly’s convictions for racketeering and sex trafficking were upheld last month.

Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in jail after being found guilty on several counts in New York in 2021. However, Kelly challenged the verdicts in the Circuit Court of Appeals.

After hearing arguments in March of last year, the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan denied his appeal on February 12.

The R&B singer “exploited his fame to lure girls and young women into his grasp” for more than 25 years, according to the three-judge panel that heard the appeal. While incarcerated, R. Kelly claims to have written 25 albums, saying, "I am always singing."

They said, “Evidence at trial demonstrated that he would control almost every aspect of their lives, isolate them from friends and family, and abuse them verbally, physically, and sexually.”

Calling the rejection “unprecedented,” Bonjean hinted that they now intend to pursue the case all the way to the Supreme Court.
