A producer from Arizona just dropped a project that might be contender for Arizona Album of The Year. Big red just put me on to “Manny Megz” and I must say I’m impressed. This kid has major potential and I really didn’t realize he’s worked with Con and West before which is a major achievement in its self. His discography is full of big names and I been sleeping!
Dudes production is crazy dope and I got extra love cause he’s from AZ! Not a lot of AZ folks doing it on his level man. Looking at the project I only recognized Heem because that’s Bennys artist and I’ve seen the name Murkemz pop up on twitter but other than that I’ve never heard of the artists on here. So going into this project not knowing he’s worked with major artists it felt like I was going to listen to another Joe Shmoe. Off the intro I knew I was wrong. But the first song with Heem? WOW. So I took the time to listen to Art is Pain all the way through and I’m very impressed at the level of production. Because I am a Phoenix native I felt like I’m always up on everything that comes out of AZ. But damn this is incredible and I didn’t realize I’ve been sleeping on Tucson this heavy. Did my home work and looked at where most of these artist are from and it seems like most are from Tucson or Phoenix. From start to finish it’s an easy listen and it takes you through every emotion in the book. Every single artist killed it but I must say, the production sounds like it’s at an A list celebrity level.
I can hear Ross on Durk and Shiest, I can hear Lloyd Banks on Heavy Metal, I can hear J Cole on most of the side B records. The second part of this project is definitely my favorite. Like some 93’ till infinity type music right there. The whole side B feels nostalgic and completely different from side A. I’m extremely excited that Arizona might just have a new sound and a new wave. Big shoutout to all the artists on here especially the AZ artists. That heavy metal track is something lethal honestly. And I can’t wait to hear more from Megz. The kid has EXTREME potential to be someone important in this scene. I took some time to listen to most of his catalog and you can hear the growth. It’s also nice to see Tucson is having a moment with this project. Manny bridged that Tucson-Phoenix gap by having some artists from both places on there. Manny Megz is next up!
