How did Tre-K get her start in music? The answer lies in the musical influence she had growing up. When Tre-K and her siblings were younger, their dad was always into music. He remembers that he would spend hours, just watching her some of the time whenever he could get her hands on a drum and play. So just like that, learning instruments by ear and following his father’s footsteps, Tre-K knew that she would be an artist, one day.
Most musicians serve as some form of inspiration, or another, to rising artist Tre-K. When it comes to his listening catalogue, she actively listens to all, and looks up to all, as well. In each genre, there’s someone who she can relate too, or is able to strongly feel their own relatable aspects, and Tre-K is able to draw similarities.
When asked about what she looks for when finding similarities between other artists and himself, Tre-K described her process the way she felt anyone else would. Looking for something in common with the artist, their sound, message, etc, while discovering what keeps him drawn in as a person.
For some artists, that source of inspiration comes from friends or family. Others, it can be tapping into one’s creative roots. For Tre-K, nothing compares to being in the presence of friends while doing what you love; for her, that looks like leaning into her creative process around her close friends and seeing what sounds come out from there. Or maybe the occasional solo jam session based on how she feels. Either way, the results are undeniable.
When asked to deliver some advice to her fans, listeners, and other artists, Tre-K said, “If I could give a message to my fans, I would say that your environment shapes who you are at the moment. So changing your environment to your needs is something that is necessary to your life… If I could change parts of the music industry, I would. I would change the stigmas of the record labels and all of the celebrity beef. That’s one thing I don’t want to look forward to with the fame.
” Tre-K spends her days pushing herself to do more of the things she needs to do, as an artist etc. Her current focus is making her voice stronger and better and taking the time to focus on herself.
