Rising indie-pop stars Laufey and Clairo are both in the middle of their touring seasons — but they recently hit pause on the road to take on a much spicier challenge. In the latest episode of Hot Ones Versus, the two sat down to test their taste buds and their honesty, all while celebrating another global pop force: Taylor Swift.
The challenge? Answer increasingly personal and difficult questions — or eat a progressively spicier hot wing if they choose to pass. One of the episode’s standout moments came when Clairo, grinning mischievously, asked “massive Swiftie” Laufey to rank four iconic Taylor Swift albums: Fearless, Red, 1989, and Lover.
Laufey didn’t flinch. “I would do that order: Fearless is my favorite, Red is my second favorite, 1989, and Lover.”
Clairo mostly agreed but admitted, “I might put 1989 in second over Red,” adding a personal twist. “My favorite Taylor Swift song is ‘False God’ on Lover, so it feels weird having it be so low.”
The duo didn’t stop there. Their conversation quickly expanded to other albums in Swift’s discography, particularly Folklore and Evermore. “I’m a big Folklore and Evermore fan,” Laufey shared. “Evermore is my favorite, I think. But I don’t know if that’s just me wanting to like the one that’s less popular.”
But the Swift talk wasn’t the only heated moment. Earlier in the video, Laufey flipped the pressure onto Clairo, asking her to choose which fellow pop star — Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, or Charli XCX — she wouldn’t want to tour with. The question clearly rattled her. “I would tour with all of them … Wait, so I have to eat one because I love them all?” she laughed nervously, then bravely bit into a blazing hot wing. “Honestly, whatever. If I just pretend that nothing is wrong, then nothing will be wrong.”
The episode is a fun, fiery ride full of laughter, music debates, and sincere artist moments. Whether you’re a Swiftie, a Clairo or Laufey fan — or just love to watch your favorite artists squirm over spice — this Hot Ones Versus episode is worth a watch.
