Jon Harris is a Hip Hop recording artist from New York. Starting with no talent and no musical background, he has been making music and refining his craft with every project he’s made since high school. He released his first official mixtape Destiny’s Calling” in 2012 following his graduation from Pace University and 3 years later in 2015 he released the sequel mixtape “Destiny’s Calling 2”. In 2018 he finally felt his work was good enough to release to the public commercially with his first song titled “Big”. Following Big’s release, Harris released a few other song all of which had great reception. Continuing his success, on October 21, 2022 Harris released his new song “Great”.
Harris says the song Great is a mixture of him stretching because of his hiatus but also a flex that he still has his skills. Harris has been working on multiple projects outside of music throughout the year 2022 along with his music. He states that while writing he felt either the songs weren’t up to his standards or the timing for releasing them weren’t right, but after finishing most of the instrumental for “Great” he knew this was something special.
Great was produced by Jon himself and after finishing the track he sent it to his friend Brayant Perdomo to improve it, which Harris said is exactly what he did. The instrumental his heavy with the drum and bass combination with other sounds so fill. It is both intense but still smooth and Jon delivers a performance that elevates the track even higher. He speaks to himself and how he relates to other rappers. He speaks to him taking a break from releasing music but that he realizes his words are needed and how people don’t want to hear him talk they just want him to make music. He voices his frustrations about being silenced and being silent.
